Summary of the Lesson 

 

 Adolescence is the transition phase between childhood and adulthood. In this session, the student learns about the changes that occur during this phase. This includes physical, emotional and behavioural changes. With the help of activities and discussion, the student learns how to face and deal with these challenges confidently.

What to Expect 

Expect the child to be more sensible in dealing with these changes. They might have some questions and confusion. Be there for them and guide them in a positive way.

 

Parental Play & Role 

BE OPEN - Talk about each and every topic. Children find it difficult to come on board with these changes. Talking about them would make it easier for them to accept these changes.

SUPPORT THEM - Be accepting of the new ventures that the child tries to enter into. Do not restrict them or narrow down the possibilities. Don’t tell them the right thing to do instead let them take calculated risk and learn from their mistakes: Guide them in adverse situations.

 

Psychology Insight 

Melatonin, the hormone that makes you sleepy, is released later at night in a teenager’s brain and hangs around for longer the next day. That’s why teens often don’t feel sleepy until after 10pm and can be groggy in the mornings.
