The Internet has become a significant part of our lives. With the internet comes its advantages and disadvantages. The session aimed to equip the student with the necessary tools required to stay safe on the internet. Further, caution them about the ill-effects and dangers that unchecked engagement over the internet can cause. 

 

What your child will learn 

 

• Internet and its varying uses 
• Risks and dangers involved in using the internet without caution 
• Do’s and don’ts while using the internet 
• What entails personal and confidential information and learning not to share it over the internet.

How is it going to help your child 

• Recognize the risks involved in using the internet; thus, practice caution. 
• Teach them to keep their personal and confidential information private. 
• Encourage them to come to elders while encountering a problem. 
• The child will be more vigilant and aware about the dangers of their actions and those of others. 

What to Expect

 

Expect the child to be more vigilant and aware while using the internet. The child will not use unsafe websites and make sure confidential information is kept safe. The child will also come to you in case of a problem.

 

Parental Role & Play 

• KEEP A CHECK- Have a conversation with your child on a regular basis on the content they are consuming on the internet. If you notice something unsafe, don’t shout or beat them. Explain why it’s unsafe in a polite way.

• BE THERE - Encourage your child to come to you in case of any problem no matter how big it is. Create a safe space and assure them that they are not going to get hurt.

The internet does not have a "Delete" key. Things that happen online, stay online. Forever. Anything you put online is nearly impossible to remove later. The dangers of social media are especially daunting. Therefore, beware about anything you post on the internet.
