Why this course?
Summary of the lesson
Through the medium of a story, children will learn that there are so many things around us; there can be some things that they like and some that they don’t. In this session, the child identifies their likes and dislikes among many. They will understand that they could make choices and decide through the activities in the session. The session helped them to voice out how they are different as individuals.
What your child will learn
How is it going to help your child
This session offers ample opportunity to help the child think about the given options and then pick what they like and leave what they don’t. It will help the child assess what to consider before choosing. It also helps the child to think about their opinion. The child will also understand that people around them can enjoy what they dislike, and it is perfectly okay.
Parental role & play
Ask your child what they like to do or not like to do on a regular basis. If the child asserts that they don’t like something, ask them to give you at least 2 reasons” Why they don’t like it?” This evaluation will give them clarity of thought.
Encourage the child to think when it is time to decide between 2 options.
Let the child make an order of things that they have to do in a day and then classify the list into least favourite to most favourite.
What to expect
Expect the child to be aware about themselves and let you know what they like or do not like. Also expect them to explore and find out more about their likes.
Psychology Insight
According to research, an individual aware of his likes and dislikes is more confident and has high self-esteem. As adults, it is easy for them to calmly make certain decisions in life. Knowing about themselves also gives a sense of clarity about their needs and distinguishes them from desires.
