Why this course?

Description

Summary of the lesson

In this session, the child understands the importance of sharing their things with others and realises that it is a way to show that you care for others. The child recognizes that sharing gives happiness. Through a storyline about Lily, the child learns why one should share their stuff with friends and siblings. With the help of some activities, the child knows what they can share and cannot/should not share with others in the end. Learning to share  boosts interpersonal relationships.

What your child will learn

  • The idea behind sharing is caring.
  • Appreciate the act of sharing.
  • Understand and identify the emotions one feels when they share their personal things and feelings with others.

How is it going to help your child

The session tries to teach empathy to the child. It will help your child realise that sharing with others gives happiness and builds healthy relationships. As the quotation goes, " A friend in need is a friend indeed," the child will learn to help others in need; as a result, they will receive help likewise at difficult times.

What to Expect

Expect the child to share their things/food/toys/books with others- friends/ siblings. The child will also expect you to do the same. They might also want to give away their old things to the poor/ beggars on the road.

Parental Play & Role

Encourage the child to share their toys, and other things with their siblings and friends.

Talk to the child how as a parent you share your resources with them and it makes you happy.

Reinforce and encourage them with positive words every time they share their stuff.

Psychology Insight

According to research, the concept of sharing means choosing to let someone else use your things or something that you have. The important factor in an act of sharing is with whom are you sharing and why are you sharing it. Sharing in a familial bond is common but sharing outside the family can have a specific reason. You need to understand what you derive out of sharing your things. Is it caring? It might always not be true.
